Option #1 - Machine Safety Survey

Price Point: 💲

“How can I quickly identify machine safety risks & which machines are most hazardous?”

Benefits:

  • Requires approximately one hour per machine

  •  For the customer, there are limited coordination efforts required; we act as the project managers

  • Minimal interference with machine operations and limited engagement by impacted personnel

  • Conducts evaluations following OSHA regulations and adheres to ANSI/ISO/NFPA standards for machinery installation, operation, and safety protocols.

  •  Great for quickly identifying gaps, needed upgrades, and establishing a magnitude of cost estimate.

  • Efficient means to survey multiple machine installations in a single site visit

  • Allows efficient prioritization of modifications and upgrades across a series of machines

  • They are conducted by a certified Machine Safety Expert (CMSE), Licensed Machine Safety Specialist (LMSS), or a certified TÜV Functional Safety Engineer (if requested).

Deliverables:

  • Safety Survey results are packaged and presented in an Excel File.

  • The corrective actions description, recommendation, and budgetary cost estimate (+/—25%) are presented in an Excel File.

Option #2 - Machine Safety Risk Assessment

Price Point: 💲💲

“Do I need to identify and assess the risks of a machine?” “My company is requiring a risk assessment.”

Benefits:

  • It requires approximately one day per machine to complete the risk assessment.

  •  Provides a thorough and systematic examination of all routine tasks, including machine operation, setup, adjustments, retooling, replenishment, servicing, and maintenance

  • Conforms with the ISO-12100, ANSI B11.0, and RIA TR 15 risk assessment requirements

  • Meets OSHA requirements and ANSI guidance for completion of a machine safety-specific risk assessment by a competent person

  • This is required for machine installations that utilize alternative risk reduction methods (ANSI 244.1) other than hazardous energy control (LOTO).

  •  They are evaluated using severity, frequency, and possibility of avoidance to identify a safety performance level (PL) for each risk identified.

  • They are conducted by a certified Machine Safety Expert (CMSE), Licensed Machine Safety Specialist (LMSS), or a certified TÜV Functional Safety Engineer (if requested).

  •  Engages all impacted parties, including machine operators, mechanics, cleaners, facility automation/instrumentation, and EHS

  • Great for new machine designs/installs and completing the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Risk Assessment obligation

Deliverables:

  • Risk assessment with findings presented in an Excel File.

  • Visual and graphical aids within the risk assessment

  • Corrective action description, recommendation, and budgetary cost estimate (+/- 25%) presented in an Excel File.

Option #3 - Machine Safety Risk Assessment & Detailed Scope

Price Point: 💲💲💲

“I need a risk assessment including a detailed scope and price.”

Benefits:

  • It requires approximately one day for risk assessment and one day for controls/mechanical reverse engineering to evaluate the safety of existing circuitry to schematics.

  •  This is required for machine installations where alternative risk reduction methods (ANSI 244.1) other than hazardous energy control (LOTO) are utilized.

  •  Identifies a safety performance level (PL) for each risk identified

  • Conducted by a certified Machine Safety Expert (CMSE), Licensed Machine Safety Specialist (LMSS), or a certified TÜV Functional Safety Engineer (if requested)

  • Engages all impacted parties, including machine operators, mechanics, cleaners, facility automation/instrumentation, and EHS

  • Great for new machine designs/installs and completing the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Risk Assessment obligation

  • Includes all elements of the Machine Safety Risk Assessment plus the development of a detailed scope, description, and price of all guarding and safety control solutions
