Taking Action for Safer Workplaces:
MPSA Earns Voting Authority on ANSI B11 Machinery Safety Standards

September 2025
Airline Hydraulics’ Machine & Process Safety Assessment Group (MPSA) has been approved as a voting member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) B11 Standards Development Committee (B11 SDC). Ryan Hayworth, Senior Machine Safety Specialist at MPSA, has been appointed as the group’s official voting representative.
This appointment places Airline/MPSA among just 37 organizations nationwide with direct authority to develop machinery safety standards that protect millions of American workers.
The ANSI B11 committee develops American National Standards and Technical Reports to safeguard against workplace machinery hazards, while also addressing emerging technologies, industry practices, and international alignment. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, machinery-related injuries and fatalities remain a significant hazard in American workplaces, contributing to hundreds of fatalities each year. With voting authority, MPSA now plays an active role in shaping the standards that help reduce those risks and advance safer industry practices.
In Their Words
I was proud when I earned my Rheinland TÜV certification in 2016 because it pushed me to master the complexities of machinery safety. But after that achievement, I struggled to find a community where I could continue growing in this field.
Joining the ANSI B11 committee changed that for me. Even before we earned voting authority, every meeting felt like a training session with the nation’s top experts. Now, I’m not just learning from the best; I’m actively shaping standards that guide industry practice. That expertise comes back with me to Airline, MPSA, and most importantly, to our customers.
What makes this milestone so meaningful is that this is more than a professional achievement; it is a passion. I am deeply committed to helping ensure that every worker returns home safely, and now I have the privilege to help shape the standards that make that possible.
“This voting authority represents more than recognition; it is a responsibility. It marks a significant step forward in our mission to ensure that every worker goes home safe and sound at the end of each day.”
